Sickly

cold Season

Not sure why I buy hosting when I don’t use it. Just can’t help but have a little spot on the web I guess.

Now that I’m sick with some cold I can write just a bit on my rarely used site. Still made it to work today but just barely made it thru the day. In fact I can barely eat. Just don’t have the desire to eat. Lots of hot and cold fever type of symptoms. Mostly in my chest and a little in my head. Feeling pretty crappy.T

Watina “I Cried Out”

January 25th, 2008

Yesterday we were listening to KHUM at work and Mike D. played something by Andy Palacio and the Garifuna Collective. I immediately fell in love with this music. Sadly he passed away on the 19th of this month. Its the type of music that you don’t need a translation for. Watina means “I Cried Out” and something about this music speaks to my heart in a special way, even

Frosty Again

Shut off the Hot Tub it’s 2008

January 1st, 2008

It was nosier than usual out in the country but 2008 brings me another year down the path of life. My vacation has been a very peaceful time with many dips in the hot tub and visits with friends. Late mornings, sleeping in and breakfast that isn’t rushed as I head out the door to work. Just soaking it up.

Unfortunately since my roommates are out of town and the hot tub takes a small fortune to heat (according to the landlord who is a roommate). I ended up shutting it down the night before last to conserve electricity.

Heading off to town soon. So have a great New Year!

WordPress 2.3.2 Upgrade

December 30th, 2007

Make sure your upgrade your WordPress install if needed. A few minor interface enhancements and some security fixes.

This was the first time I was alerted to the upgrade by the WordPress install itself. I was using their free service for awhile so there was no need. All maintainance was done by them so I didn’t have to worry about it. This time however I was alerted by a simple message on the top of the Dashboard. Not sure when they started doing that but it is very useful.

Imified needs work

December 30th, 2007

Recently tried Imified to post to the site thru my Google Talk account. Gtalk works on the Blackberry and if this bot Imified uses worked I would be able to post to this blog with a simple text message in Gtalk to the Imified bot. I knew there might be problems when it took a few days to get the Imified bot on my chat list in Gtalk after I invited it to chat. I’ll keep the account for awhile and see if it works out the bugs.

GPS Jesus Helps Nab Thief

December 28th, 2007

GPS Jesus Helps Nab ThiefThieves stole two statues of the baby Jesus from a display in front of the Wellington Community Center In 2006 so this year the statue was fitted with a GPS device. Late Wednesday night the statue was stolen and after turning on the GPS they found the Baby Jesus in a house a short distance away.

Arrested was Danielle Santino, 18, of Lake Worth, Fla and she was charged with grand theft.

Sheriff’s Capt. Greg Richter was quoted saying the moral of the story is simple, “You don’t know what could have a GPS tracking device in it.”

If this girl had been reading Digg she would have known that it was “Bugged”.

Secure Posting from Hotspot

December 27th, 2007

I’ve used Logmein before and now that I have hosting again I’ll be taking my laptop with me to town and Logmein provides a secure 256 bit connection to my computer at home when I’m using a WiFi connection at a coffeehouse or random hotspot.

It couldn’t be easier to connect to the house remotely and just use my computer at home from the laptop in the field.

Logmein uses a number of security features before a connection is made and I recommend this service if you use a laptop in pubic places or just need to connect to your computer at home when you’re away.

There are other ways to connect but this adds an extra layer of security from public hotspots.
